This is truly one of my favorite things we do as a family. It's not just because we're doing it together (we spend the vast majority of our time together as it is, which is how we like it), and it's not just because there is ice cream involved (though that certainly sweetens the deal for the kids), but because I think it's one of the things we do that is really the essence of who we are as a family. The story does not belong to just Alan and me, it belongs to all of us

I have to admit that I have a love/hate relationship with the internet. I readily admit I have trouble keeping my usage in check and I often fantasize about living off-grid in some wifi-free cabin in the woods. I don't know if you can relate to this, but there have been times I can barely resist the urge to throw my smart phone against the wall.

Why It Matters

For years I kept a regular online journal of sorts, and I'm so glad I did. I can't tell you how often I get lost looking through old posts and exclaiming "look how little they were!" or how grateful I am for the friendships and connections I made because of it (you can still visit those olds posts, though I won't be active there anymore), but somewhere along the line I started to feel like it just wasn't the right place to write about the things I really wanted to write about.
